If you have a dollar, definitely give this one a go! You can print them out on cardstock to go along with the books you give your Bookwyrm friends, or use it as encouragement to get through the massive To-Be-Read stack that's still on your bedside table!

Apex Predator promises a Monster-Hunter-esque game and delivers! It uses common game pieces (a deck of cards, a coin, a d10), but I was able to play with a random number generator and a site that drew cards for me - both of which were free! I drew the grid on my page and filled it in with the cards using the generator to determine which position the Monster Card was in. Then I used the random number generator to determine my path. I used arrows and circled face-up cards as I went.

It didn’t take long at all for me to blaze through a 4x4 grid, and the prompts made it easy to imagine my Hunter tracking down her prey to keep her village safe! When your hunter does find their quarry, after you’ve done all you can to add as much advantage as the map allows, it all comes down to the dice! Will you triumph over that towering creature, or will you, the apex predator, turn out to be prey all along?

Either way, no two playthroughs will be the same. Happy hunting!

Is this Player's Guide part of a larger TTRPG or is it the entire game?
